Health optimization, done seriously, is not a six-week protocol. It is a year of small, well-measured changes in the right order. Canggu is a uniquely good place to run that year — the climate, the food, the training options and the slower social rhythm are all on your side. Most people still get it wrong, because they start in the middle of the practice instead of at the beginning.
Quarter one: measure, don't intervene
A full baseline blood panel, a DEXA or InBody, two weeks of clean wearable data, a real conversation about sleep, training history, stress and nutrition. No new protocols yet. The temptation to start optimizing before you've measured is the single most common reason year-one practices stall by month four.
Quarter two: the foundation
Sleep environment and timing locked in. Two resistance sessions and two zone-two sessions a week, non-negotiable. A protein floor that suits your training. Recovery rhythm — sauna, cold, ocean — built into the week. This is the quarter that does most of the heavy lifting on the labs at month six.
A year of foundation outperforms a decade of protocols.
Quarter three: refinement
Now the interesting interventions earn their place: a peptide cycle if a healing job calls for it, a hormone conversation if labs and symptoms agree, a GLP-1 protocol if the metabolic picture warrants it. Each one is measured, time-bound, and run against the practice you have already built.
Quarter four: durability
Re-test everything. Compare against month one. Identify the two or three things worth carrying into year two, and the things that were noise. A year-one practice that ends with a clear, sustainable year-two plan is, more or less, the whole point.
